In the early morning, the tour will begin with a visit to Angkor Wat, the most renowned of the Angkor temples. Visitors will be impressed by the scale and intricate artistry of this architectural marvel. The tour will continue to Ta Prohm, a temple overtaken by tropical nature, illustrating the powerful impact of the environment on historical structures.

In the afternoon, participants will travel along a scenic road lined with century-old trees to Angkor Thom, also known as “the Great City.” Here, they will encounter the Bayon Temple, notable for its massive stone towers adorned with four serene faces. The visit will also include the Baphuon Temple, a temple mountain from the 11th century recently restored by French architects. The tour continues to the Terrace of the Elephants, used for royal audiences and public ceremonies, and the Terrace of the Leper King, known for its magnificent Apsara carvings.

Following this, the journey proceeds to Tonle Sap, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, known for its diverse and productive ecosystem.

In Kompong Kleang, guests will board a local boat to explore the stilted village and its surroundings. This boat ride provides an opportunity to observe the expansive lake and interact with local communities. Following breakfast, the group will embark on a 5-6 hour drive from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. En route, stops will include the Angkor bridge at Kompong Kdei and the ruins of the Sambor Prei Kuk temple, the former capital of Chenla. The journey will also include a visit to Kompong Thom, a province adjacent to Tonle Sap Lake.

Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, guests will experience a city characterized by its blend of modernity, provincial charm, and French colonial influences.

Optional Experience: Sunset Cruise on the Mekong River

Guests can enjoy a sunset cruise along the Mekong River, passing notable landmarks such as the Royal Palace and the confluence of the Tonle Sap, Bassac, and Mekong rivers. The cruise includes a mixed tapas selection and a choice of beverage.

After breakfast, the tour will explore Phnom Penh, located at the confluence of four branches of the Mekong River. Key visits include the National Museum, dedicated to Khmer art and artifacts from both the Pre-Angkor and Angkor periods, and Wat Phnom, an ancient pagoda founded by a wealthy Khmer woman in 1372.

The tour also includes a visit to Tuol Sleng, a historic school repurposed as a prison during the Khmer Rouge era, and a walk around the Russian Market, notable for its colonial architecture.

Optional Experience: Floating Villages of Kampong Chhnang

This experience provides an opportunity to explore Kampong Chhnang, known for its pottery and floating villages. Guests will board a traditional boat to navigate through these communities, offering a firsthand view of rural Cambodian life and culture.
