Post breakfast we go on a full day heritage tour of the city covering Memphis, Sakkara, Pyramids & Sphinx. 

Memphis: Memphis was one of the oldest and most important cities in ancient Egypt, located at the entrance to the Nile River Valley near the Giza plateau. It served as the capital of ancient Egypt and an important religious cult center. 

Sakkara: It is an Egyptian village in Giza Governorate, that contains ancient burial grounds of Egyptian royalty, serving as the necropolis for the ancient Egyptian capital, Memphis. The Step Pyramid built in Sakkara for the Pharaoh Zoser, is the oldest pyramid in the world, dating back from 2700 BC. 

Pyramids: The great Pyramids of Giza (Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus) were reckoned by the Greeks to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. A single pyramid is built with 2.300.000 blocks, each weighing an average of two and a half tones. In the face of such immensity, one cannot help but feel the wonder and awe that so many writers and artists have sought to convey over the centuries. The Cheops Pyramid is more interesting, because its interior burial chambers are open for inspection by the public. 

Sphinx: Great Sphinx of Giza dates to the time of Chephren (2620 BC). Hewn from natural yellowish limestone and standing 65 feet-high and 187 feet-long, this unforgettable statue combines the head of a Pharaoh with a lion’s body. 

After the tour we return to the hotel. 

Post breakfast we go on an excursion to Alexandria city visiting Roman
Amphitheater, Catacombs and Pompey’s Pillar.
Roman Amphitheater: It is an archaeological site featuring the remains of an ancient Roman theater, baths & a villa with mosaics. It is the only one of it’s kind in Egypt and dates back to the 2nd century AD.
Catacombs: The catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa is a historical archaeological site and is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages. The catacombs consist of several Alexandrian tombs.
Pompey’s Pillar: Set up in honour of the Roman emperor Diocletian between 298–302 AD, the giant Corinthian column originally supported a colossal porphyry statue of the emperor in armour. The erroneous name and association with Pompey stems from historical misreading of the Greek dedicatory inscription on the base.
After the tour we stop for a while to click some pictures outside the Qait Bay Citadel before driving back to our hotel in Cairo

This morning we are set to discover the famous Museums and Baazars of Cairo
namely Egyptian Museum, Qaitbay Citadel & Khan El Khalili Bazaar.
Egyptian Museum: It was established by the Egyptian government in 1835. The
present building was built in 1900 by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon. The
museum exhibited collections now exceed 120,000 objects rangeing from pre-historic era to the Greco Roman period. It has 107 halls, and the ground floor houses huge statues. The upper floor houses small statues, jewels, Tutankhamen treasures.
Saladin Citadel: It houses a number of museums, ancient mosques and other sites, located on a spur of limestone that had been detached from its parent Moqattam Hills by quarrying. The Citadel is one of the world’s greatest monuments to medieval warfare, as well as a highly visible landmark on Cairo’s eastern skyline.
After the visit we go to the bazaars of Khan El Khalili whereby you have some free time to stroll around the bazaars; which is one of the most famous worldwide with its amazing narrow alleyways. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Early this morning at around 5AM, checkout of the hotel and transfer to Cairo Airport to board the flight to Aswan. Upon reaching we visit High Dam & Philae Temple.
The High dam is an engineering miracle built in 1960 protecting Egypt from annual floods from the Nile. To visit the majestic Philae Temple, situated on an island, we take a boat. Since in the early part of the century, the site of Philae was flooded for six months each year, an incredible restoration program was undertaken in the 1960s, and the Temple was moved stone by stone to a higher elevation. After this embark on a Nile cruise. Lunch and dinner to be served onboard.

This morning we sail to visit the Kom Ombo Temple. There are actually two temples, the one on the left side is dedicated to Haroeris (sometimes called Harer, Horus the Elder) who was the falcon headed sky god and the right to Sobek (the crocodile headed god). There are two entrances, two courts, two colonnades, two hypostyle halls and two sanctuaries. There were probably even two sets of priests.
In ancient times, sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the river bank nearby. The Temple now has scanted remains owing to the Copts who once used it as a church and builders who used the stones for new buildings.
Later we sail towards Edfu. Dinner and overnight on board.

Post breakfast we go on a guided tour to visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu. The major Ptolemaic temple was built between 237 BCE and 57 BCE, in the reign of Cleopatra VII. Of all the temple remains in Egypt, the Temple of Horus at Edfu is the most completely preserved. Built from sandstone blocks, the huge Ptolemaic temple was constructed over the site of a smaller New Kingdom temple, oriented east to west, facing towards the river. The later structure faces north to south and leaves the ruined remains of the older temple pylon to be seen on the east side of the first court.

After this we sail to Luxor crossing Esna lock. Here we go on a guided visit to the Karnak and Luxor temples on the East bank.
Karnak temple: The Karnak Temple dates back from around 2055 BC to around 100 AD. It was built as a cult temple and was dedicated to the gods Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. Being the largest building for religious purposes ever to be constructed, the
Karnak Temple was known as “most select of places” by ancient Egyptians.
Luxor temple: It is a great temple complex in modern Luxor dedicated to Amun, a creator god often fused with the sun-god Ra into Amun-Ra, construction work on the temple began during the reign of Ame nhotep III in the 14th century BC. Horemheb and Tutankhamun added columns, statues, and friezes, and Akhenaten had earlier obliterated his father’s cartouches and installed a shrine to the Aten, However, the only major expansion effort took place under Ramses II some 100 years after the first stones were put in place. Luxor is thus unique among the main Egyptian temple complexes in having only two pharaohs leave their mark on its architectural structure.

Post breakfast, disembark and go on a guided tour to visit the Valley of the Kings,
Hatshepsut temple and colossi of Memnon.
Valley of the Kings: It is a valley where, for a period of nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, rock-cut tombs were excavated for the pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom.
Hatshepsut Temple: It is a mortuary temple built during the reign of Pharaoh Hatshepsut of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. It is considered to be a masterpiece of ancient architecture. Its three massive terraces rise above the desert floor and into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari.
The Colossi of Memnon: These are two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, which stand at the front of the ruined Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III, the largest temple in the Theban Necropolis.
Transfer to Luxor airport to catch a flight to Cairo. Overnight in Cairo
