Post breakfast we go on a full day heritage tour of the city covering Memphis, Sakkara, Pyramids & Sphinx.
Memphis: Memphis was one of the oldest and most important cities in ancient Egypt, located at the entrance to the Nile River Valley near the Giza plateau. It served as the capital of ancient Egypt and an important religious center.
Sakkara: It is an Egyptian village in Giza Governorate, that contains ancient burial grounds of Egyptian royalty, serving as the necropolis for the ancient Egyptian capital, Memphis. The Step Pyramid built in Sakkara for the Pharaoh Zoser, is the oldest pyramid in the world, dating back from 2700 BC.
Pyramids: The great Pyramids of Giza (Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus) were reckoned by the Greeks to be one of the Seven
Wonders of the World. A single pyramid is built with 2.300.000 blocks, each weighing an average of two and a half tones. In the face of such immensity, one cannot help but feel the wonder and awe that so many writers and artists have sought to convey over the centuries. The Cheops Pyramid is more interesting, because its interior burial chambers are open for inspection by the public.
Sphinx: Great Sphinx of Giza dates to the time of Chephren (2620 BC). Hewn from natural yellowish limestone and standing 65 feet-high and 187 feet-long, this unforgettable statue combines the head of a Pharaoh with a lion’s body. After the tour we return to the hotel with the remaining evening at leisure.

Early this morning at around 5AM, checkout of the hotel and transfer to Cairo Airport to board the flight to Aswan. Upon reaching we visit High Dam & Philae Temple. The High dam is an engineering miracle built in 1960 protecting Egypt from annual floods from the Nile. To visit the majestic Philae Temple, situated on an island, we take a boat. Since in the early part of the century, the site of Philae was flooded for six months each year, an incredible restoration program was undertaken in the 1960s, and the Temple was moved stone by stone to a higher elevation. After this embark on a Nile cruise. Lunch and dinner to be served onboard.

This morning we sail to visit the Kom Ombo Temple. There are actually two temples, the one on the left side is dedicated to Haroeris (sometimes called Harer, Horus the Elder) who was the falcon headed sky god and the right to Sobek (the crocodile headed god). There are two entrances, two courts, two colonnades, two hypostyle halls and two sanctuaries. There were probably even two sets of priests. In ancient times, sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the river bank nearby. The Temple now has scanted remains owing to the Copts
who once used it as a church and builders who used the stones for new buildings. Later we sail towards Edfu. Dinner and overnight on board.
Optional Experience: Abu Simbel: We take a packed breakfast this morning and transfer to Abu Simbel by a vehicle at around 5AM (around 3.5 hours driving per way) to visit the temples. The two temples of Ramses II at Abu Simbel are each fronted by colossal statues, famed as the most impressive monuments remaining of Ancient Egypt in modern times.

Post breakfast we go on a guided tour to visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu. The major Ptolemaic temple was built between 237 BCE and 57 BCE, in the reign of Cleopatra VII. Of all the temple remains in Egypt, the Temple of Horus at Edfu is the most completely preserved. Built from sandstone blocks, the huge Ptolemaic temple was constructed over the site of a smaller New Kingdom temple, oriented east to west, facing towards the river. The later structure faces north to south and leaves the ruined remains of the older temple pylon to be seen on the east side of the first court.

Post breakfast, disembark and go on an Egyptologist-guided tour to visit the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut temple and colossi of Memnon.
Valley of the Kings: It is a valley where, for a period of nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, rock-cut tombs were excavated for the pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom. Hatshepsut Temple: It is a mortuary temple built during the reign of Pharaoh Hatshepsut of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. It is considered to be a masterpiece of ancient architecture. Its three massive terraces rise above the desert floor and into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari.
The Colossi of Memnon: These are two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, which stand at the front of the ruined Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III, the largest temple in the Theban Necropolis.

After the tour guests are driven to Luxor airport for their flight to Cairo. Upon arrival in Cairo airport, connect with your onward flight back home.
